Developed in Idaho, Idared apple trees are a cross between two old-time New York apples (Jonathan apple and Wagener apple) that were first grown in Penn Yan in 1791. As Jonathan x Wagener cross, this apple tree variety has good vigor, producing an abundant crop of small to medium sized apples, with a crisp, fine-grained flesh that stores well. Requires pollinator. Try it with Red Delicious!
Excellent for pies, sauces, cooking, and baking (Idared apples hold their shape perfectly and look beautiful on the table).. Good for eating, salads and freezing.
